Education Consultation and Advocacy

Parental involvement in a child’s school experience not only enhances academic performance, but it also has a positive influence on student attitude and behavior.

A parent's interest and encouragement in a child's education can affect the child's attitude toward school, classroom conduct, self-esteem, absenteeism, and motivation.

Our School Advocate and Consultant, Daniela Ruiz has over 17 years working in the public education system. As a mother of two uniquely wired, beautiful girls, Daniela has also personally experienced the challenges faced when advocating for a child's wellbeing in a school setting.

School Consultant, Advocate & Parent Coach

Parents and guardians have the most complete understanding of a child's physical, social, developmental, and family history. They are the only adults in the educational process who have been and will be deeply involved throughout the child's school career.

Despite their importance in educational decision-making, parents sometimes feel overwhelmed by the systems in place to help accommodate students with special needs, such as an IEP, 504 plan and the processes in the private educational realms.

Parents may not be educators themselves. But they bring their years of experience in other professions and aspects of life to the process, along with their experience with their own child. Parents and guardians have the most complete understanding of a child's physical, social, developmental, and family history.

Don't let school personnel intimidate you in this process. Your role as an advocate for your child is paramount.

We offer child and family assessments and consultations, school-based advocacy, and guidance to help families navigate these challenges.

Here are a few of the areas that we can assist in:

  • Educational Planning

  • Advocacy for Intervention & Accommodations

  • IEP meetings / 504 Meetings

  • Educational Disabilities

  • ADHD

  • Anxiety

  • Bullying Concerns

  • Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities

  • Speech and Language Disabilities

At STT we recognize that individual’s behavioral issues are unique and our goal is to find the most effective approach–or combination of approaches–that works best to support them and your entire family system.

Our coaching services are provided as a way for parents to gain support for a variety of parenting issues.

Our parent coach will work with your family to explore, identify and support your areas of concern and provide tools, ideas, and new mechanisms to help.

We knows that there is no “one size fits all” solution to any parenting challenge and will work with you to understand your family’s strengths and help you grow together as a family from a place of empowerment and encouragement.

  • Behavior problems

  • Stress-related parenting issues

  • Best parenting practices

  • Developmental activities

  • Parenting during transition or crisis

It is not our goal to tell you how to parent, but instead to help support your values, priorities, and goals, and provide the accountability, empathetic reflections, and feedback to your family to move forward, grow, and evolve.
