Couples Counseling

Relationships are key in our life; however, they can prove to be challenging at times.

Is couples counseling right for you?

Couples counseling can help people in all types of intimate relationships, regardless of sexual orientation, marital status, or living situation. Some couples seek counseling to strengthen their partnership and gain a better understanding of each other. In other cases, couples look for counseling to improve a troubled relationship.

Many times a couple’s unique challenges can provide an opportunity for the relationship to grow the capacity for love, compassion, communication.

It is my effort to provide couples therapy that is positive and effective to help address the trials of growing together.

Some common areas of focus in couple’s counseling:

  • Communication problems

  • Sexual difficulties

  • Conflicts about raising children or blended families

  • Substance abuse

  • Anger

  • Infidelity

  • Premarital guidance

The Gottman Method

I am trained in The Gottman Method for couple’s therapy, an approach that includes a thorough assessment of the couple’s relationship and integrates research based interventions used to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection. Together we work to remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy and heightened a sense of compassion and understanding within the relationship.
